The film had its share of controversies with a petition in the Bombay High Court for a stay order after admitting the appeal filed by one of the producers of the film, against the execution of the arbitration order allowing the release of the film passed earlier. The petition was filed by one of the producers, Yogesh Varma.
According to the petition, Varma and his partner were under a joint venture with a share capital of 50% each. Last year, the film was titled but it was stalled for financial reasons. Accordingly, the applicant's partner tied up with a non-resident Indian Sayed Iqtidar Hussain who financed the film and completed it.
The petitioners alleged that last year, the two got an award in their favour, keeping the applicant Varma in the dark about the arbitration petition and thus the appeal was maintainable. Advocate Ashok Sarogi, appearing for the respondent, argued that the negatives have already been sold and the satellite version has already been screened.
Thus the staying of the film would be improper. Further, the film was a dream of the respondent and if it is not screened, it will be a big loss to the producer and his future projects would be ruined. But the delivery of the film has already been effected in various terrritories including, satellite and india video.
Also, newbie Alisa Khan, who plays a psychotic lover in the film, blamed co-star Rakhi Vohra for 'getting fresh' with her and ‘molest her' during the shoot of My Husband's Wife in Kuala Lumpur. Alisa Khan said she was left running for cover as Rakhi Vohra chased her around the room, naked.
When Alisa protested, she alleged Rakhi locked her up inside the room and went for the shoot alone. Then Alisha called up Pawan and the producer Vinodji that they pleaded with Rakhi to give them the keys. Apparently, Khan was so jolted by this experience that she has decided to leave B-Town and will soon join a leading aviation company as an airhostess.
The film is produced by Vinod Chhabra, Yogesh Verma, Nasreen Usmani. The story, lyrics and direction is by Vinod Chhabra.
Actress Rati Agnihotri says, "Vinod Chhabra's film, My Husband's Wife is a film on generation gap and the problems faced by young NRIs who are living in the western world but are still connected to Indian roots through their elders. I am very happy to work in this prestigious project that will appeal to Indians all around the world."
