India's official entry for the 2004 Academy Awards "Shwaas" will have a pre-Oscar screening in Toronto next weekend thanks to the Marathi Bhashik Mandal. The Marathi film has received several honours in India.

Based on a true story, "Shwaas" tells the tale of a village boy afflicted with a rare form of retinal cancer and the bond he shares with his grandfather. The old man suffers, often uncomprehendingly, through innumerable hospital visits and tests before he decides on a course of action that changes the way in which his grandson looks at life forever.
