Rajinikanth was given a rousing reception at the airport with large number of his fans gathering to get a glimpse of the superstar.
Arriving at the Chennai airport with wife Latha and daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya via a Singapore Airlines flight, Rajinikanth greeted his fans present there with folded hands. He waved at them and assured that he is doing fine.
Security was beefed up at the airport for the superstar, while his fans decorated the roads linking the airport and Rajinikanth's house with festoons, banners and posters.
Meanwhile, sources said the Tamil actor will rest for a few months at his farmhouse near Chennai before resuming shooting for his film ‘Rana' in October-November.
"The superstar is likely to hold discussions with the director. He will take rest for the next few months. The shooting for ‘Rana' may resume by October-November, " said sources.
Rajinikanth was admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for kidney ailment on May 28.
Earlier, he was admitted to Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre in Chennai on May 15. The Tamil actor was undergoing dialysis and had kidney problems.
Rajinikanth had been suffering from recurrent respiratory infection and gastro intestinal ailments and was advised complete bed rest.
The 61-year-old star with a god like fan following after the phenomenal success of Robot (Endhiran), which was dubbed in Hindi as well, had recently started working on his new film Rana with Deepika Padukone in Chennai.
He plays three roles in the film on the Mahurat sets of which he fell sick on April 29 and had to be hospitalized first.
