It was a close shave for noted Bengali film actress Rituparna Sengupta. Rituparna was supposed to take the American Airlines` 757 Washington-Los Angeles flight that crashed into the World Trade Centre in New York on Tuesday, but cancelled the trip at the last minute."I and my husband were to travel by Tuesday morning`s Dulles (international airport)-Los Angeles flight, but we decided against it and thought we would take the Dulles-San Diego flight that afternoon. It is sheer divine intervention that we are alive today," Ms Sengupta told her parents in Calcutta on phone from the US on Wednesday.
She was on a holiday in the US, where her husband, Sanjay Chakraborty, works. Rituparna is an acclaimed actress, who has several national awards to her credit.Sengupta`s father Probir Sengupta said that the couple "were supposed to travel to Los Angeles, where my son-in-law had some work. They booked their tickets for that ill-fated flight, but later decided to fly to San Diego instead and then drive to Los Angeles. Their decision saved their lives."
