The deadlock over Amitabh Bachchan addressing students of Lucknow on job reservation has now reached a flashpoint.
The Big B has been barred from talking on the issue in any part of Uttar Pradesh, and his Aarakshan director-producer Prakash Jha is livid!
"We were first denied permission to hold our seminar on job reservation at the Lucknow University, " says Jha.
"We then hired the Indira Gandhi auditorium, but again we were denied permission to hold our meeting there, this time by the Lucknow Development Authority."
In the film, Bachchan plays a principal of a college torn by job reservation issues. Jha is, therefore, determined his lead actor talk on the subject in UP.
As such, he has now sought the intervention of the state's chief minister Mayawati in the matter.
"I want to ask her what the problem is. Does the UP administration fear a law and order situation because of Aarakshan?"
Jha is willing to show the film to Mayawati, if she so requests. "I've left a message with someone close to her. Now I'm waiting for her to revert, " he confirms.
