Noted Indian film maker Mira Nair has said that she would soon begin making a film that would promote
friendly ties between India and Pakistan. Mira is in Pakistan these days on an invitation from the Daily
Times.
Replying to a question on the spate of India's anti-Pak films made in the recent past, she said she would work
on a movie about India and Pakistan with a view to bring both the countries and the people together and
removing misunderstandings between them.
The film director urged both India and Pakistan to allow filmmakers to travel freely in the subcontinent. "I had
no problem in coming to Pakistan. It didn't seem to be a problem," The Daily Times quoted her as
saying.
She further said that she would like to put lyrics by Faiz Ahmad Faiz in her films. Songs by Pakistani folk
singer Abida Parveen are already on many of her productions. "Our culture is common. I want Pakistani
filmmakers to come forward. They have to tell the stories of what is going on in contemporary Pakistan. This is
what the world doesn't know," she added.
