Noted distributor Tolu Bajaj is determined to get started with his ambitious foray into production early this year,
except that he has slightly altered his production plans with BARAAT being replaced by another film. "BARAAT
will also be made but it will be the second production from our banner," Bajaj reveals, adding that both films will
be directing by his son, Sachin Bajaj.
Vivek Oberoi who was earlier signed for BARAAT, will now play the central character in the yet untitled film.
"We will be officially announcing the film in April after which we intend to complete the film in six months. We
are currently in the process of finalizing the female lead for the film," Bajaj informs.
On the distribution front, he is eagerly looking forward to the January 21 release of KISNA, which he is being
released under the Mukta Arts banner. "It is the only proper film targeted at a family audience after SWADES. If
will definitely ring in good news for the box-office," he says, adding that he has great expectations from the film.
The fact that Vivek Oberoi career is currently going through a low and Ghai's last film YAADEIN did not get the
expected response at the box-office does not worry Bajaj.
"I am aware of the fact that our industry moves with success and failures. As for Subhash Ghai I don't think he
needs to prove himself anymore. I am aware of the fact that a great deal of effort and planning has gone into the
making of the film vis-à-vis its content and entertainment value."
"We are not worried about Vivek's box-office status either. If star presence were to guarantee a big draw at the
box-office, SWADES should have been a big hit. KISNA will be worth-watching not for the presence or
performance of one particular actor but the way the film has been made in totality," smiles Bajaj, who is
planning to release the film with over 100 prints in the Mumbai circuit. "It will be a really big release in keeping
with the reputation of Mukta Arts," he adds.
Meanwhile, Mukta Arts is planning to intensify the publicity campaign for the film. "They are going to make a
blast all over the media in the next few days," Bajaj informs. There was speculation that Ghai wasn't too sure
about January 21 as the release date since he has not made it official in the print media but Bajaj insists that it
is indeed the D-day for the film. "It is the normal practice in Mukta Arts not to commit the release date until the
censor clearance come through. The film has just gone to the censors and the release date will be formally
announced in the next two days," he explains.
