We wont be surprised if the women who play the different faces of Sita in Lajja are an exhausted foursome.A special premier of the film was arranged for the benefit of the Delhi police folk last week, at which all of them, Rekha, Madhuri Dixit, Manisha Koirala and Mahima Chahdhary were present.
The very next day, the film was screened for the Mumbai presscorps, and here, too, the women were scheduled to put in an appearance and to field questions. But turn up they didn`t.Perhaps they were tired from the Delhi jaunt, or plain overwhelmed by the almost extreme reactions the film has aroused. Call it the gender divide, if you like, but the responses have varied between the sexes.
Most of the men we spoke to, complained it was too blatantly anti-men for their taste. The women, on the other hand, have verged on the adulatory.
