Lalit said: "The idea was to get the whole music fraternity together for an informal fun session."
It was the outcome that pleased Lalit the most, with the music directors beating the singers by 35 runs.
The composers' team included Aadesh Srivastav, Ismail Darbar, Vishal Bharadwaj, Bappi Lahiri, Sanjeev-Darshan, Nikhil Vinay, Sajid-Wajid and Jatin-Lalit. Lalit led the team.
The other team included singers Sonu Nigam, Talat Aziz, Shaan, Abhijeet and Babul Supriyo.
Both teams had good players, said Lalit. "It was by no means a match played by amateurs.
"Talat Aziz is a great cricketer in his own right, having represented Baroda in the past. Vishal Bharadwaj is an expert batsman. Besides, cricket is my favourite game and I have been playing it since early childhood."
Former cricketer Mohinder Amarnath was the umpire for the match.
"We wanted it to be professionally played and judged, apart from the enjoyment part," Lalit said.
"It doesn't really matter who beat whom. It was playing together that made all the difference."
Lalit is all geared up for a performance Tuesday, when he and Jatin will release a song specially composed for victims of the Dec 26 tsunami.
