Prateik Babbar is all set to play a small-town lout from Uttar Pradesh in director Tigmanshu Dhulia's upcoming film Milan Talkies. But the director is facing a peculiar problem -- he has no town to shoot in.
Like Dhulia, Manish Tiwary too, is set to make a film with Babbar in a dusty town of Uttar Pradesh. However, while Tiwary has decided to shoot his adaptation of the Shakespearean drama Romeo and Juliet in Varanasi, Dhulia is in a fix about the locale for his film.
Laments Dhulia, "Where do I locate my film? It's the story of a small-town North Indian boy who makes duplicates of Bollywood blockbusters. I want to shoot the film in one of UP's towns, but every town is being used for film shootings. There are so many films under production like Zilla Ghaziabad, Tamanche, Gangs Of Wasseypur and Vibhishan. Where do I go?"
Incidentally, Dhulia has shot his earlier film Haasil in Varanasi. In fact, the director has repeatedly located his films in the state. He considered locating Milan Talkies in Meerut, but had to decide against that town, too.
"I am doing an adaptation of Shakespeare's Hamlet in Meerut. So I can't do Milan Talkies in that town also. I am stuck."
It looks like all the towns of UP are on Bollywood's map, for now at least.
