He is working in Bollywood star Akshay Kumar's production 'Speedy Singhs' but Indo-Canadian stand-up comedian Russell
Peters says he finds the Mumbai-based film industry awful.
'Speedy Singhs' is the dubbed version of Akshay's
international production 'Breakaway' with a backdrop of ice-hockey. Peters, 40, who was born in Canada to Anglo-Indian parents
and has been doing stand-up comedy since the age of 19, says he hates Bollywood films and has never seen one in his life
and does not plan to star in one.
"I hate Bollywood. The movies are all garbage, just terrible. It's my opinion,
obviously there are billions who like and love them. I don't like all the singing, dancing and all the dramatic crying. I have never
seen a Bollywood film in my life. I have refused doing it earlier and will do so in future. But I hope some filmmakers take a
chance of making real movies, " Peters told PTI.
The comedian does not have very kind views about Bollywood
actors too, who he thinks are "just pretty faces".
"I don't think Indian actors are good, a couple of them are like
Anupam (Kher) but not many are there like him in the industry. There are thousand of actors and actresses in the industry but
you can count on hand how many of them are really good, rest of them are just pretty faces."
Peters is known for
his mocking Indians in his stand-up shows and has acted in Hollywood films before like 'Lord Have Mercy' and 'Comedy Now'.
This is the first time he has worked in an Indian production with an India starcast. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Vinay
Virmani, Hollywood actress Camilla Belle and Gurpreet Guggi. The film releases this week.
