We have learnt that Neil Nitin Mukesh injured his finger badly during a stunt sequence for Players and initially complained of a lot of pain.
Interstingly, however, despite being advised by doctors to take it easy, the actor insisted on finishing his shoot. Is he trying too hard to prove that he is one of the most diligent workers around? We think so.
Confirms director Abbas of the Abbas-Mustan duo, "Neil's finger was in bad shape and the doctor recommended operation.
A very heavy object fell on his finger during a fight scene and though we did not think it would get so bad, by the end of that day he was in a lot of pain."
However, Neil convinced the directors that he would get the operation done once he was back in Mumbai.
The director adds, "There was a bandage on his finger, so anyway it would have been difficult to shoot. But he somehow convinced the make-up artistes to cover it up so it wouldn't be visible. He waited for another 15 days post the injury to be able to fix the damage."
The actor who is now back in Mumbai has undergone an operation for his fractured finger and is said to have been given strict instructions by his family to take complete rest.
Players is his first film with Abbas-Mustan and considering his last few movies have not impressed much, Neil seems to be in the mood to push himself to any extent to get it right.
