With annual statements by certain section of the people that International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2011 be shifted from Goa, Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff has supported the current venue.
"The film industry professionals often talk of Cannes film festival. They should come down to Goa and feel the experience of IFFI being held here, " Shroff said after inaugurating the Actors Lounge and ‘Raj Kapoor' Directors Lounge at Old GMC building here on Wednesday.
Shroff, an annual guest for IFFI said he attends IFFI ‘whether invited or not.'
"Several Bollywood celebrities usually opt Goa as their holiday destination, should also come during IFFI, " he suggested.
Lending his full support to Goa as a permanent venue for IFFI, the actor said ‘we should endeavor to make IFFI better than Cannes.'
The 10-day long festival unveils today evening with Shah Rukh Khan to grace the inaugural occasion at Ravindra Bhavan in Margao.
