Most Bollywood filmmakers are revisiting old classics for remakes, and veteran actress Deepti Naval, whose cult film "Chashme Buddoor" is also being remade by David Dhawan, says she finds nothing wrong with the trend. She believes every director has the right to interpret a story in his way.

"Sequels are okay! I guess 'Chashme Buddoor' is going to be made again, so I can't say nahi hona chahiye (I can't say they shouldn't happen)," the 54-year-old actress told reporters here.

In the past, Bollywood has seen remakes of films like "Umrao Jaan", "Don", "Sholay" and "Devdas". The "Chashme Buddoor" remake will reportedly have Ali Zafar in the role played by Farooq Sheikh.

"If a film inspires a director, if there is something about the film which is kind of timeless and some director wants to approach it again and re-interpret it in his or her own way, I think they should have the freedom to do that," added Deepti.

She spoke on the sidelines of an event, where directors and producers gathered to plan celebrations for 100 years of Indian Cinema, in 2013.

Known for her work in films like "Angoor" , "Kissi Se Na Kehna" and "Mirch Masala", Deepti feels Indian cinema has changed manifold over the years.

"I have followed cinema ever since I was a baby. And I have seen various phases of Hindi cinema in my lifetime. Every decad, there has been a change. The taste has changed, phase has changed, stars have changed, filmmaking has changed...So, there is a whole lot to look back at, there is a whole lot for us to celebrate," said the actress, who has spent 32 years in the industry.

Deepti, who started her career in 1979 with "Junoon, was last seen in "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" and "Bhindi Bazaar".

She also directed her first film "Do Paise Ki Dhoop, Chaar Aane Ki Baarish" featuring Manisha Koirala, Rajit Kapur and her own nephewm, Sanaj naval. The film premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2009 but is yet to release in India.
