It's a first for all the four actors. In Hriday Shetty's Chaalis Chaurasi, there are no female actors at all.
Naseeruddin Shah, Atul Kulkarni, Kay Kay Menon and Ravi Kissen have no female co-stars in this crime caper.
Apparently, while Shah, Kulkarni and Menon were okay with their all-boys' cast, and in fact, looked forward to their male bonding binge, Bhojpuri actor Kissan sulked about being deprived of female company.
"How can I be shown without a female companion? What will audiences think?" Kissen is said to have exclaimed, after hearing the script. But Shetty was adamant.
Said the director, "The story of Chaalis Chauraasi is such that you don't need a woman character.
I did not want to do injustice to any actress, by making her play an itsy role or form a pretty picture in the frame, when the script didn't demand it.
I guess when you see the movie you will realise what I am saying is true."
