The ‘dirty" actor of Bollywood, Vidya Balan, came to Kolkata on Saturday to promote her upcoming movie ‘Kahaani', shot in the city.

Tollywood actor Parambrata Chatterjee and director Sujoy Ghosh joined her in the promotion.

Speaking to media, Vidya said, "I came to Kolkata with my ‘Kahaani' (story). This is a wonderful place, lots of creativity and is a place of great films. Any opportunity to come back here is great."

Speaking about her character, Vidya said, "I am playing the role of Vidya Bagchi in the film who is six months pregnant. She came to Kolkata from London in search of her missing husband.

"The interesting thing about the character is that, she comes to this city for the first time in a very pathetic condition, not knowing anyone but still she got a smile which is beautiful."

She did the film promotion by showcasing her baby bump, the character she is playing in the film.

On being asked about her unique promotional style, she told IBNS: "It helps a lot when you are promoting the film in the avatar of the character. It draws a lot of attention to that particular film."

On being asked about choosing Kolkata as the backdrop of the film, Sujoy Ghosh said, "When you are writing a thriller story, you have to know the place well because that place will be the part of your story. And as I was born and brought up in Kolkata, I know this place very well, so I chose Kolkata."

Parambrata said if he gets good work from Mumbai, he will grab it because he feels that "everyone wants to stand in a national level platform."

The film is scheduled for release on Mar 9 next.
