Actor Vijay Raaz, who was arrested and jailed in Dubai last week for allegedly possessing drugs, returned here early Wednesday after being released there.

Raaz arrived on an Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi. According to sources, his wife Krishna, daughter Tanishka, 5, and close family friends were at the airport to receive him.

Raaz was in Dubai to shoot for Vikram Bhatt's new film "Diwaane Hue Paagal". He was flying to Dubai from Abu Dhabi Feb 13 when he was detained at Dubai airport on charges of possessing drugs.

Reports from the Middle East say the actor's relatives approached the Indian embassy in Dubai for help. Raaz was given access to consulate officials who then worked for his release. Raaz, who was detained at Al Watva, Abu Dhabi, informed them that he was innocent and did not know how the drugs came into his hand baggage.

He hit big time for his roles in movies like "Monsoon Wedding" and "Raghu Romeo".
