Actor John Abraham, who just barely managed to escape a 15-day jail term on March 9, for a 2006 case of rash and negligent driving, is reportedly in a shaken state. He was eventually let off on bail later in the day.
However, the next day, he was scheduled to start shooting for Sanjay Gupta's Shootout At Wadala as a convict in Yerwada jail, in all probability the same jail he would have otherwise been thrown into had the bail plea not come through.
Throughout the day, as he awaited his bail plea, the actor withdrew into a shell. Apparently, he returned home late in the evening and was to be at Yerawada Jail by 7.30 am the next morning to shoot a sequence for Shootout At Wadala.
His friend says, on condition of anonymity, "John went through the whole day in court in a numbed state. It was only after his ordeal ended on Friday that he realised how close he was to actually being sent to prison. To add his trauma, the very next morning, he was to play a character thrown into jail."
Seeing Abraham's state, Gupta offered to cancel the shoot and instead film it at a children's remand home. "I wasn't sure John would be able to go through it. If he had been denies bail, he'd have been wearing exactly the same uniform and probably going into the same prison like his character in the film... it was pretty scary," said the director.
