In 2004, the designer shot to fame after winning the Best of the Season (Women's Wear) Award at White in Milan for his spring/summer line. "It's like home ground to me," Bahl told. "I am always thrilled to attend Milan."
This year he would be showing an eclectic collection of Victorian-inspired skirts, blouses and shawls designed with patterns consciously left half-done to give a moth-eaten effect.
"These are clothes that I am truly proud of," said Bahl. "They represent a look and feel that I know will be a big hit. "Today fashion is not all about perfection, it's about affected imperfection, about the hints and incomplete nuances."
Among the clothes is something really unique, a single sleeve shawl, which can be slipped on like a jacket on one arm and left flowing over the shoulders on the other. This is based on an old Italian style.
Today Bahl is undisputedly the brightest new spark in the Indian fashion fraternity. His heavily anticipated debut at the Lakme India Fashion Week was such a grand success that Bahl was asked to do the prestigious grand finale by title sponsor Lakme in 2005 - an unprecedented honour for a new designer.
"I am just very thankful," said Bahl. "It's been a dream debut till now."
