The two have been signed together for a film to be produced by Chicago-based producer Masood Ali and directed by Pakistani actor Omar Sharif. Dattani, who has just completed Hriday Shetty's Pal Tham Gaya with Soha Ali Khan, is delighted to be back with Tanisha.
"The incident is a little funny in hindsight. Tanisha and I shot almost half the film together before she left. It felt really strange to re-shoot the entire film with another actress (Pooja Kanwal). I had nothing to do with Tanisha's departure from Uff...Kya Jadoo Mohabbat Hai.
In fact, I looked forward to working with her again. And here she is, my co-star in my third Hindi film. Tanisha and I never had issues. The problems were between her and the producers."
Dattani has just returned from Mauritius after a 10-day shoot of Pal Tham Gaya and he can't stop raving about his co-stars Dimple Kapadia and Rishi Kapoor. "I was barely born when they came together in Bobby; it's one of my favourite films."
In Pal Tham Gaya Hai, Dattani plays Soha Ali Khan's progressive boyfriend who openly supports her mother's decision to remarry at a time when her daughter is about to tie the knot.
"It's a very fresh and convention-defying theme. I couldn't have hoped for a better post-debut film. One of the many bonuses of doing this film was that I got to shake a leg with Emma Bunton of Spice Girls for a shaadi sequence.
And yes, I made a very good friend in Soha. She's extremely hassle-free and easy to work with," says Sammir.
In the yet-untitled film with Tanisha, Dattani plays a superstar-musician from India who, during a concert tour in the US, is stalked by a fan. "I don't mind being stalked if the stalker is as pretty as Tanisha," quips Dattani, adding, "It's a small world out here. Tanisha and I couldn't be seen together in Uff...Kya Jadoo Mohabbat Hai. Maybe we were destined to create jadoo in Chicago."
