Unfazed by criticism at home for her appearing in a kissing scene in the first Indo-Pak joint celluloid
venture Nazar, Pakistani actress Meera has said she is proud to have acted in it and she took permission
from Pakistan government for working in the movie.
Reacting to the news of her being fined for kissing in the film, the actress said she had agreed to work in
the movie because she found Indian film maker Mahesh Bhatt, one of the producers of Nazar, had come to
Pakistan with a very "positive mission and had a good approach" and she would not do anything that will
bring bad name to Pakistan.
Commending filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, one of the producers of the film, for undertaking what had not been
in 56 years of India-Pakistan history, Meera said she was proud of being part of the first joint venture
between the two countries.
"Though several times there had been talks about an Indo-Pakistan joint production, the same has not
materialised for long. Bhatt, however, has succeeded in giving a tangible form to the dream after 56 years",
she said.
The actress said she did not really feel that Pakistan government would mind her acting in such a film as
Pakistan had displayed interest in friendly ties with India, a point made by Pakistan President Pervez
Musharraf.
Meera said she had taken permission from the government for the project.
