With the release of Sanjay F Gupta's Karam and three other films, now being shifted to March 11, exhibitors who were earlier apprehensive of facing an acute shortage of
films in March, are heaving a sigh of relief.
"The current scenario indicates that despite the examination period and the Indo-Pak cricket matches, there'll be one
release every week starting with the March 4 release of Socha Na Tha'," says Arun Sharma, Programming Manager, INOX. This is in addition to the ten other films that are
awaiting release in the month of March, one of them being Sarhad Paar.
But it is the month of April that will enable audiences to have the choicest of films with some of the best films lined up for release. As of now six major films have been
confirmed for release in the month with 11 more awaiting release, one of them being Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Parineeta.
Exhibitors, who are expecting a mad rush of
films in April, are now looking at scheduling shows alternately for the films depending on their box-office potential.
"There is likely to be a tough competition among
distributors to book theatres for films in the period and we are trying to accommodate as many films as possible considering that April-May will also be the peak periods of
business," says Sanjay Dalia, Programming Manager, Cineline theatres.
