Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd has denied that it has shelved 'Maharathi', the film that was to be the company's most prestigious project till date. Recently there were
reports in sections of the media that Astavinayak had abandoned the idea of going ahead with the film following Amitabh Bachchan's decision to opt out of it.
"We
have not shelved the film. We have just kept it on hold. We are looking for a suitable alternative to play the central character that Bachchan was to play in the film. There are
several versatile artistes in the industry and we are hoping to zero in one of them in due course. The industry does not rest on one shoulder alone," Rupen Amlani, Vice
President of Ashtavinayak Cine Vision recently revealed.
Meanwhile, Ashtavinayak is now readying for the release of TANGO CHARLIE, scheduled for March end. "The film will once again see Ajay Devgan in a stellar performance,"
Amlani adds.
However the company seems to have slowed down its acquisitions after it last acquired the distribution rights of FAMILY at a formidable price.
