Shahid Kapoor skips family vacation to attend promotional events for his upcoming film that also stars former sweetheart Priyanka Chopra

Shahid Kapoor has to forego a holiday with his family due to his film commitment. The actor was slated to join his father Pankaj Kapur in the US, as he was keen to spend some time with his folks who are on a summer vacation there. Pankaj along with wife Supriya Pathak and their children Sana and Ruhaan left a couple of days ago for New York.

Says a source, "Shahid was planning to be with them in New York for over a week. As they had planned a long trip, he was to join them at a later date." But now he has realised that he cannot be with them as his presence is required in Mumbai for Kunal Kohli's film, which also stars his ex flame Priyanka Chopra.

The star was apparently keen to be with his kin as his last two holidays had been with his gang of friends. In October last year, Sasha had taken off for Spain with a bunch of pals for a backpacking and a party hard vacation.

In February this year he had a week-long birthday celebration in Goa with his buddies which had included Nargis Fakhri leading to speculation about the two.

Adds the source, "This is the reason he was keen to spend time with his family. He is extremely fond of Sana and Ruhaan and had decided to be with them in New York before he gets busy with the promotions of his film which is slated for a June release."

As the first look launch of the film was out last month and with the promos on air, Shahid's presence is required at the music related events being chalked out for the film. The source further adds, "As his co-star Priyanka Chopra is away in the US pursuing her music ambitions, at the moment Shahid has to be present at the promotional events being held at music stations."
