Over the years, Anurag Kashyap has shown his inclination towards making dark films —Black Friday, Gulaal and That Girl In Yellow Boots. His forthcoming film — a gangster flick — marks his foray into masala cinema.
Incidentally, the filmmaker confesses that it was brother Abhinav Kashyap who pushed him to try his hand at making such a film.
Speaking about the film that will be screened at Cannes this year, he says, "My latest film is a fun film. It has romance, songs and action but at the same time it is also very real. In fact, Abhinav's debut film Dabangg had a major role to play in me making this film."
He explains further, "Abhinav's first film was for the masses but was rooted and so earthy. I have not made such a film till date. He has always been behind my life to make a film that is connected to the place we come from.
Bahut dande pade Abhinav se tab jaake yeh picture banai hai. I also had this argument with him that even I could make a commercial film."
