Actor Pankaj Kapur, one of Bollywood actors who straddles both the world of arthouse and commercial movies with effortless ease, turned a year older on Tuesday.

The actor, who was born in the year 1954, turned 58.

He stepped into Bollywood in the year 1982 with Shyam Benegal's film Arohan.

Kapur received recognition as an actor for the films like Ek Doctor Ki Maut and Maqbool for which he won National Film Awards.

He is best known for acting in art films that came under the parallel cinema category like Mandi, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Khandhar and Khamosh to name a few.

His other film projects include Gandhi, Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho, Raakh, Roja, Dus and Halla Bol etc.

Kapur worked as a theatre artist also and appeared in several television serials that includes Karamchand and Office Office.

He tied the knot first with actor Neelima Azeem with whom he has a son named Shahid Kapoor, who is one of the popular Bollywood actors today.

Pankaj Kapur later divorced Neelima and married Supriya Pathak with whom he has a son and a daughter.
