Dibakar Bannerjee's eagerly-awaited political thriller has been cleared by the Censor Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) with a ‘UA' (suitable for under-age viewership under parental guidance) certificate, but with a major cut.
However CBFC's CEO Pankaja Thakur while discussing the film's censoring refuses to dwell on the cut.
Says Ms Thakur, "We cleared the film with one cut with a ‘UA' certification.Beyond that we saw nothing objectionable in the content."
As for the controversial song Bharat mata ki jai against which a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Delhi High Court by the Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena the censorboard is very clear on its stand.
Says Ms Thakur, "The matter is subjudice, so I can't comment on whether the song stays or goes from the film. The song was cleared by our Revising Committee when it was submitted to the board members earlier. As far as the censorboard is concerned, the song has been cleared."
However a source from the censorboard feels that the PIL against the song Bharat mata ki jai has been generated from within the film's team.
"Just like Aamir Khan Productions had got people from within their own team to talk about the song D k bose. While clearing the song Bharat mata ki jai the Revising Committee had clearly advised the Shanghai team not to use the song for publicity."
