Mohammad Samad's friends at school tease him for becoming ‘famous' all of a sudden. Shabhana Azmi recently complimented him for his performance and even clicked photographs with him.
The children's film in which he played the title role has already won several international awards and has just released in the country. But surprisingly, Samad's mother is yet to watch the film!
The 12-year-old boy, who hails from Roorkee (Uttarakhand) chuckles and explains why, "My dad has always travelled with me, be it to Ahmedabad, Delhi or Mumbai. Ma stayed back at home and never accompanied us.
Also, Roorkee is a small city and we haven't had any screenings there so she didn't get the chance to watch the film at all." Samad had to compete with 20 shortlisted kids to bag the role as Gattu, the kite runner.
On being asked whether working in the film interrupted his studies, the class-six student informed that his shooting was completed within 15 days and also that he's "a good student".
This diehard Salman Khan-fan further added that he wants to be an actor too like his idol. Interestingly, Anurag Kashyap — after noticing Samad's work in Gattu — has already signed him for his next project titled Minto.
