The over-expressive, make-up loaded and super-conniving vamp of the small screen has faded away, making space for realistic characters with grey shades, says TV actress Ridheema Tiwari.

"The days for typical vamps have gone now. Most of the negative characters are situational nowadays, " Ridheema, who plays a grey character in new show "Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage", told.

"I spoke to the writer of the show, and he said 'All of us have a good and bad side and when a situation goes wrong, our bad side comes out.' This is what my character is about, " she added.

Except for her last two shows - "Sasural Genda Phool" and "Rishton Se Badi Pratha", the actress has always been seen in negative roles. And she is happy to get back to the genre.

"There was a time when I was not given positive roles to play. So getting back to playing a negative role was not at all difficult for me, " said Ridheema, who last played a grey character in "Annu Ki Ho Gayi Wah Bhai Wah".

After being part of almost six shows in television, Ridheema is a known face on Indian telly.

She also tried her luck in Bollywood, but in vain. The actress says that she is "dying" to be part of films made by "Gangs Of Wasseypur" filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.

"Before 'Rishton Se Badi Pratha', I tried my hand in Bollywood for one and a half years. I had a secretary too. I took the best of pictures, and I tried to get my foot in it by doing southern films as well. (But) I think it is (all about) destiny, " she said.

"But with Anurag Kashap making such lovely films, I feel we all have hope in Bollywood, " she added.

Her original plan was to become a doctor, but she ended up entering the world of showbiz around four years back. The actress says she loves the profession and has realised that this is her true calling.

"I've never planned anything in life. I come from a simple background. My parents are teachers. I always wanted to become a doctor. I took life as it came to me, " she said.

The actress dedicates all that she is today to her spirit of learning.

"I may not be the best actor, but I am hard working. Every day I want to learn new things. This want of learning has made me what I am today, " she said.
