At his mother's behest, Akshay Kumar read the holy book to prepare for his divine role in 'Oh My God'. Also gifts copies to the cast and the crew

Looks like for his role as God in his next home production, Akshay Kumar left no stone unturned to fit into the shoes of his character. Not only did he go vegetarian, buzz is that he also read the Bhagvad Gita, at the behest of his mother.

In fact, not only did Akki read the Gita, he also gifted a copy to every member of the film's cast and crew.

A source says, `When Akshay took on the role of God, he wanted to make sure the aesthetics in which his character was portrayed was not offensive. Akki himself is a firm believer in God.

In fact when Akshay told his mother that he would be playing God, she asked him to read the Bhagvad Gita before he plays the role. Akshay immediately obliged. He also gifted around 80 copies of the holy book to the cast and the crew.` Akshay remained unavailable for comment.
