Nandana Sen is quite excited about the multifarious roles that she is being offered by producers here.
"I am lucky that I have a diverse range of roles at this stage
in my career when I have just made my beginning in Bollywood. One thing I would certainly wish to avoid is being typecast. I have seen actors having a tough time coming
out of their images," she says.
However unlike most other Bollywood actresses who are all game for Bengali films, Sen seems to be totally averse to doing Bengali cinema. "It is my mother tongue no
doubt and I like the essence of Bengal and the old by-lanes, which make me nostalgic all the time. But the offers that I have got for Bengali films so far are all bad copies of
Hindi films. I am not interested in anything that is not original," she says.
The hi-profile directors of the caliber of Buddha Dev Das Gupta and Rituparno Ghosh, haven't probably taken notice of her or are just not aware that the talented Bengali girl
is waiting to work with them.
