Unlike his two previous films—"Hawas" and "Girlfriend" -- Razdan has chosen to avoid skin shows this time and go in for a supernatural thriller.
Apart from Kolhapure and Chandavarkar,Razdan introduces two new faces, Raj Tara and Vastavikta (daughter of film star Rajkumar). The other actors are Meghna Naidu and Gulshan Grover.
"Meghna Naidu doesn't have any steamy scenes in 8. She's a rich girl living in a manor in the UK, but there's hardly any skin show and no kisses," tells the director.
To celebrate the completion of the film, Razdan recently organized a party in Mumbai at which the who's who of Bollywood were seen. Razdan believes that "Eight" also has sex, but it is portrayed with more sensuality. He claims that it is a movie with a modern admix of sex and religion.
"Eight is the number of Saturn, which we in India call Shani Devta. Saturn, I think, has it's effects worldwide," said Razdan.
The film revolves around the eighth planet Saturn or Shani. And is based on several superstitious beliefs, black magic and bad omen.
"Eight is a very different film. It is all about superstition, negative powers and bad omen," said actress Meghana Naidu.
"My role in the film is that of a very intense person (character). He has a gift, he can see souls and spirits," said Rajiv, actor in the film.
The film is to be released in May 2005 but life after Eight looks eqaully rosy for Razdan as he takes up his new project 'Souten', involving three old men – Kader Khan, Jaspal Bhatti and Prem Chopra playing the so-called rejects of society.
When asked about Amrita Arora's recent commet in which she claimed that Girlfriend, Karan says, "I haven't seen Amrita or Isha doing bigger roles than in Girlfriend. Isha was a moll in Qayamat and Amrita was constantly confused with Amrita Rao when I was making Girlfriend."
"I've given them an identity, but it's very convenient now to walk away saying Girlfriend was a mistake," he adds.
