"I am feeling very sad to know about the sudden demise of Shri Yash Chopra, internationally famous film personality. I used to know him personally, " Banerjee said.
"At this moment those thoughts of our meeting and interaction are coming back to my memory, " said Banerjee on her Facebook page.
"It is no doubt a great loss to the film world. My heartfelt condolences are with his bereaved family members. May the Almighty give them enough strength to bear this irreparable loss, " she wrote.
The legendary director known for his films like "Silsila", "Kabhi Kabhie", "Chandni" among many others, breathed his last at Lilavati Hospital Sunday, a hospital spokesperson said. Chopra was 80.
