Johnny Depp is known to be the most famous and talented movie star in the world. He has also been bagging at least one People's Choice Awards (PCAs) every year since 2005 be it as a Favourite Male Movie Star, Favourite Male Action Star, Favourite Movie Actor and even once for Favourite On Screen couple and Favourite Animated Voice. Fans worldwide love him so much that they voted him as the People's Choice for Actor of the Decade in 2010.
Since the desi version of the People's Choice Awards has now arrived in India, there is a lot of speculation as to which stars have been voted winners by their fans.
For the first year, among those nominated in the Favourite Actor category are Salman Khan (Ek Tha Tiger), Ranbir Kapoor (Rockstar), Akshay Kumar (Rowdy Rathore) and Hrithik Roshan (Agneepath). Incidentally, Salman and Akshay are also nominated in the Favourite Action Movie Star category.
At the red carpet, when asked about the PCAs coming to India, Salman Khan said, `It's happening for the first time, right? It's about time. It should have begun long time ago. Many people would have gotten a lot of awards.
It's People's Choice. It's online, right? If I have to give someone an award, I will give it to someone who has no interest in awards. Like Aamir (Khan). I am not here to accept any awards. I am here to watch the awards function, and later to perform in it.`
The digital presence of People's Choice Awards India is managed by Bulldog Media & Entertainment. When we asked Akash Sharma, co-founder and managing director of Bulldog, about the Favourite Movie Actor winner, he remained tight-lipped. `Johnny Depp has truly been the People's Choice of the US show for the past many years.
And rest assured, the people worldwide have spoken and chosen a Bollywood star with as much love and affection. In the US, last year we received over 230 million votes from fans globally. In India too, we have received millions of votes for the first year itself.
What's interesting is that PCAs India nominees have overall received almost 49 per cent response from fans outside of India, including countries like US, UK and Canada.` The winners of the People's Choice Awards will be revealed on Sunday, November 25 on Colors
