The decision comes in the wake of Sahara's recent plan to categorize all its entertainment companies under a joint venture holding company in alliance with Percept Finserve.
It may be recalled that it has been more than a year since Chandra completed the film after which she had been repeatedly voicing her concern about its release and its place among the many films that were lined up in Sahara.
Chandra was severely disappointed on hearing the news.
"It is a bit upsetting considering that I had been looking forward to the release of the film for all this time. On several occasions I had taken up the subject of the film's release but pursuing it with the people was a difficult process. The film was very close to my heart at one point of time. It is sad that a director puts in so much of his creative effort into a project only to realize later that it will not have the expected release," Chandra said.
Meanwhile, it is now learnt that FILM STAR isn't the only film that has been slotted for the premier on Sahara television. Makarand Deshpande's HANAN, which is also awaiting release since a year now, has also been selected for a premier on television.
