Legend Films, a California company specialising in digital colourisation of films, is planning to create a special design and production division to cater to Bollywood films.

Barry B. Sandrew, president of Legend Films, described as an inventor of digital colourisation, said the company had received an overwhelming response from the Bollywood community.

"While there are other colourisation studios in India, only Legend Films holds key patents in the US and Canada for colourisation technology. These patents preclude colourisation titles from a worldwide release that includes the US and Canada unless produced or licensed by Legend Films," the company said.

Legend Films already has a studio in India, which executes much of their design and technical work using Legend Films proprietary technology.

Sandrew said: "Legend is now gearing up to provide a fast and efficient service to restore and colourise many Indian films that comprise the Indian film heritage in the same manner as our current service to the Hollywood film industry."

"With the production and design studio located in India, it will help the film producers to get their work done to their best satisfaction," he added.

Legend Films specialises in restoring and colourising films. Their new technology allows them to colour films in high definition at a never-before-seen vibrancy.

Legend Films can also restore the vibrant quality of three strip Technicolor prints that have faded over time.
