The British Council would screen select English films of actor Om Puri during a special film festival from April 18 to 21, to celebrate his being honoured with the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
The films to be screened were Second Generation , Murder , White Teeth and the Canterbury Tales , according to British Council sources.
Second Generation , a story about love, family and identity is a vivid romance set in a vibrant world traversing Brick Lane to Bollywood, the Asian Underground music scene, crazy club nights, curry factories and East End homes of London's second generation.
White Teeth , is based on the award-winning novel by Zadie Smith and set against London's racial and cultural tapestry while Murder centres on the impact a tragedy has on the protagonist and those around her.
John Mckay's The Canterbury Tales is set in the Asian Community in Gravesent and explores the role of the Asian Godfather to his community abroad.
