Anara Gupta, whom the Jammu and Kashmir police had October last year accused of featuring in a
pornographic CD, Friday began work in a TV serial.
Anara is shooting for "Sulgati Rahen", family members said here.
"She is enjoying her work (in the serial) and we are happy about it," Anara's mother Raj Rani told
reporters.
"It (Friday) was her first day at work."
According to the family, the TV serial is one of the many Anara - crowned Miss Jammu in 2001 - has
signed. She is also likely to feature in a Dogri movie being planned by writer Ved Rahi.
The family said Mumbai-based producer Ashok Pandit had expressed desire to make a movie on her life
with Anara in the lead role.
Anara had come under the media spotlight after police filed a case against her over the porn CD.
A forensic laboratory in Andhra Pradesh later contradicted the police claims, saying the woman featured in
the CD was not Anara.
The police had to withdraw the case and inform the court, vindicating Anara who had been saying from the
beginning that she was innocent and had been framed.
State Director General of Police Gopal Sharma had told the high court in a written statement that Anara
was kept in illegal custody.
Five officials were suspended after the police case fell through.
Anara had demanded Rs.10 million as compensation from the police.
Anara, said family members, always wished to work in the movies. Now her dreams are being fulfilled, they
said.
