On Wednesday, Kamal reportedly held two special screenings of the film for his friends in the Tamil Nadu film industry, one, exclusively for Rajinikanth. The superstar had stood by him during the ban.
The ban on the film in the state was lifted on Sunday after Kamal agreed to edit seven scenes from the movie.
The Hindi version of the Rs 95-crore blockbuster, Vishwaroop, has been released across the country.
"(The film is) not anti-Muslim or anti-India in any manner," said a young film buff.
