Indian cinema's enfant terrible and the man behind films as diverse as "Saaransh" and "Murder", Mahesh Bhatt, is now going to be the subject of a mainstream movie being
made by producer-director Vinta Nanda.
"It is a subject that I have been contemplating for a long time now. He has been like a guru and a mentor to me. I have always been fascinated by the man, his vision, his
ability to stand atop every situation however difficult it may seem and his courage to stand by the underdog," says Nanda about the outspoken, non-conformist
Bhatt.
Nanda was closely associated with Mahesh Bhatt some years ago when she assisted him in the serial "Kabhi Kabhi".
The filmmaker, whose "White Noise" received much critical acclaim, says her film will not be a docudrama, but a commercial movie with songs and dances. "Of course, it
will cover all aspects of his life, except that it will be entirely from my perspective of how I choose to portray it," she discloses.
How has Mahesh Bhatt reacted to this? "He is flattered. He also realises my intensity towards the subject and has agreed to give me all the necessary information."
The hunt is on for an "actor of substance" to play the role of Mahesh Bhatt. "I have a few names under consideration and I'll take a decision soon," says Nanda.
