Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi, who had gone to southern India for charity work after the tsunami disaster, has denied that he ever had any confrontation with Tamil Nadu Chief
Minister J Jayalalitha.
''Amma had granted us land to build an orphanage. Why would she help me if she had a problem with me,'' he asked in an interview with the channel Aajtak to be telecast
tomorrow.
The comment came following an observation made by Ms Jayalalitha that Vivek had done the tsumani relief work only as a 'publicity stunt'.
He denied that he had done anything for publicity and the media had come to cover his work for tsunami victims on their own. ''I did not call anyone.'' ''I do not believe in
people doing social work only after retirement. I took three and half months break to work with people.
It is only now that people have noticed it. I have been doing this for the last five years.'' Asked about rivalry among stars, Vivek said ''I have competition only with myself. I do
not compete with anyone.''
