Bollywood actor Salman Khan Sunday cut short his visit to a music store in a suburb here after being mobbed by fans.

Salman, who agreed to visit the Global Bollywood Music store in the suburb of Fordsburg, had to leave in another car when even his security guards failed to keep the crowds away.

About 2,000 fans jostled with each other to secure a photograph or autograph of the star.

Smiling briefly as he emerged from a limousine earlier, Khan did not utter a single word to his fans. However, he obliged some of the children in the store with autographs.

Appearing tired from his show in Durban the previous night, Khan put in the appearance to help promote his show "Sensations 2005" scheduled later at Gallagher Estate here.

Khan, who has performed in South Africa several times in the past, ranks among the four most popular Bollywood actors in South Africa, after Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan.
