British director Matthew Vaughn is Hollywood's latest A-list director.
Very quickly, he has gone from being rookie director of the upcoming $7 million gangster flick "Layer Cake" to heading the team of the $100 million "X-Men" sequel, according to hollywoodreporter.com
Daniel Craig the star of "Layer Cake" is already being called the next James Bond and in the "X-Men" sequel, Vaughn is giving Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry "more heart".
"Layer Cake" had earlier wowed critics at the Sundance Film Festival and was a hit in Britain.
Vaughn is also the producer behind Guy Ritchie's sleeper hits "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch" as well as flop remake "Swept Away", starring Ritchie's wife, Madonna.
