Sushant Singh Rajput: I get down and dirty in Delhi!

It's been almost five years that Sushant Singh Rajput moved bag and baggage from Delhi to Mumbai to try his luck in showbiz, but it still gives him goosebumps whenever he remembers the times he played Holi with his hostelmates back in the capital.

`Holi is my absolute favourite festival,` Sushant told CS. The actor, who's riding high on the success of Kai Po Che, recalls all the fun times he had playing Holi in his college days:

Eggs, grease and more...
As a little kid growing up in Patna, my friends and I would dig a big hole in the ground and fill it with water. We had permission for four feet as we were all less than that at that time (laughs). But it was in Delhi where I was in a school hostel and later, in a college hostel, that we played the 'real' Holi.

We used to play very dirty Holi, with eggs, grease and even 'keechad'! I'm actually giving you the censored version! (laughs) The clothes that we used to wear on Holi day could never be worn again. We used to make groups and roam around, putting colour on whoever comes in front of us.

At times, we had dholwallas with us, at other times, we used to have a mobile DJ, a guy who used to walk around with these big speakers and blaring music. To be honest, I really don't remember much about playing Holi because we would get high on bhaang! (smiles) I'm still in touch with my friends from college and even if I go to Delhi a day or two after Holi, they still insist on playing it.

Authentic Holi
When I was doing theatre in Mumbai, I attended Holi parties at Nadiraji's (Nadira Babbar) house and later at Ekta m'am (Ekta Kapoor) residence. The problem is that authentic bhaang is not available here (smiles). So, the Holi experience in Mumbai has been good but it's not that authentic. People here play Holi very nicely and I'm just not used to that!

Looks matter!
There are a lot of things I like about Holi. One thing is that at the back of your mind, you know you have to behave in a certain manner. And that's not just with actors. The best thing about Holi is that nobody recognises you, so you can just break free. We take so much effort trying to look good 364 days, lekin woh jo ek din gande dikhne main mazaa hai, that's something else!
