The filmmaker underwent a surgery on his back on Tuesday afternoon

On Tuesday afternoon, Anurag Kashyap headed for the operation theatre to have surgeons working on his back.

The director had been suffering from some pain on his back for a while now. He was however keeping the operation on hold till the time the theatrical trailer of his upcoming film was launched. He is expected to be back in action in the first week of April.

A source says, `Anurag's busy schedule was preventing him from going for the surgery. But since the theatrical promo launch of his upcoming film Bombay Talkies was planned, he wanted to get that out of the way. Once it was done on Monday afternoon, he headed to the hospital on Tuesday morning. `

Guneet Monga, a close associate of Anurag says, `Yes, he is unwell but we are not aware of the nature of his problem. I have been told he will not be available for three days. `
