Audiences from B-tier cities can watch Anand Gandhi's film only if they qualify through a voting system

Now, if you are a B-city resident, chances are that you may not be able to catch Anand Gandhi's Ship of Theseus. The marketing team behind the project, which has earned rave reviews across international film festivals, has apparently decided to screen the film only in A-cities. Director Kiran Rao has associated herself to the film as its presenter.

A crewmember says, `The director and the producers have their specific target audience. They feel the film will only appeal to a particular kind of audience. So the film will release only in selected cities.`

However, an online voting system has been organised through which audiences from smaller towns can vote for the film to be released in their places of residence.

Says Kiran, `We feel there are a good number of people who live outside of the big cities who are also keen to watch the film. Our campaign is to gauge the audience's interest.`

This brings us back to the issue of why supposedly good films have to beat around the bush to have the audience sit up and take note. Beats the purpose of geting Kiran Rao on board, no?
