Bollywood actors Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha promoted their upcoming period romance 'Lootera' here on Saturday.

"The film is set in the 1950s where I played the role of Pakhi Roy Choudhury, the only daughter of a zamindar family, " said Sonakshi.

Speaking about the character he played in the movie Ranveer said: "I am an archaeologist whose real name may or may not be Varun Shrivastav. He betrays and loots this zamindar family and runs away."

"What happens next is the suspense to be explored when you watch the movie, " he said

Speaking on period romance, Sonakshi said the script was very challenging "which needed lots of research like what was the lifestyle then, how people used to wear clothes and all."

"But that's how an actor explores his/her skills and also thanks to the director of the movie, Vikramaditya Motwane who made the job easy for us, " she said.

Ranveer added the characters were really challenging but what "I found is Sonakshi is very easy going person when it comes to working with her."

"It is a beautiful love story and the chemistry between me and Sonakshi is something watchable, " he said.

On why extreme rural locations of West Bengal were chosen for the shoot, Sonakshi said because they are untouched and "to portray the time period of 1950s you need such locations."

"With so many modernization and vehicles in cities it becomes tough job to portray 1950s, " she said.

Ranveer was in his own humorous style while addressing media with few memorable moments like when he almost spitted in front of Sonakshi while speaking a dialogue during the shoot.


"I was supposed to say tum (Hindi word for you) when it became thum, " said Ranveer remembering the funny memorable moment.

During the press conference Sonakshi revealed that she is also working on an assignment where she plays a Bengali character.

The film set in era of 1950s Bengal was mainly shot in Maoist effected rural areas in West Bengal under high security and Dalhousie in Himachal Pradesh. It will release on July 5.

Ranveer also expressed his interest to work in biographical films in future.

Meanwhile the Lootera lead couple also unveiled the Green Cloud Privilage Card along with its campaign characters Puja and Pablo.

The campaign objective is to promote the eco-concept, country club amenities and various value added services of the club house by creating relevance of the characters with the common mass.
