In tonight's broadcast, Canadian Idol judges Farley Flex, Jake Gold, Sass Jordan and Zack Werner revealed their final choices for the exclusive Top 32. Now, CTV announces the names of the 32 competitors who will put it all on the line in front of the Canadian voting public beginning next week.
The 32 competitors represent eight provinces and 25 communities from Duncan, British Columbia to Burlington, Newfoundland. Ranging in age from 16 to 27, the semi-finalists are a snapshot of Canadian youth, representing Canada's diverse ethnic population, regional distinctions and rich history of talented performers.
And amongst them is 27-year-old Radio disc jockey Devika Mathur.
With her talent, Devika proved to the judges she's more than just a talking-head. The Mumbai native showed she can sing too, winning the judges over with her deep vocals for "Unchained Melody."
"Your sense of pitch is fantastic," Werner said.
"And I don't think you could be more beautiful if you tried," Jordan remarked.
Devika is proud of her heritage, cultural background and upbringing.
"Probably understanding and acknowledging that all I am or have is a gift from life and the one above. This said, not letting any small or great achievement sway my head and being grateful for it always is something I'm proud of and consider huge on my accomplishment list," says Devika who is fondly called as Rinku.
