Sources say Irrfan Khan could play Bhupen Hazarika in Kalpana Lajmi's upcoming biopic

The wait is finally over. Sources say that Kalpana Lajmi has handpicked Irrfan Khan to play the late Bhupen Hazarika in the filmmaker's upcoming biopic.

The film will be based on Mahesh Bhatt's script (co-written by Lajmi) that the director is penning on the relationship between the veteran singer and Lajmi spanning four decades. Pooja Bhatt will produce the film, titled Dhumuha: The Storm.

However, Lajmi refused to confirm Irrfan's inclusion in the cast, stating, "We are still working on the script. I can talk about it only after the first week of October. Right now I don't have anyone in mind."

On the buzz of him playing the National Award winning musician, Irrfan says, "I am not aware." In an earlier interview, Lajmi had told us, "The hunt has begun. It is tough to find the talent to play Bhupenda."
