It is well-known that Aamir Khan is allergic to awards and shuns any such events. So, it comes as a surprise that the star is attending an awards gala in the US where he is being honoured for 'Satyamev Jayate'

Mr Perfectionist was spotted on Sunday night at Mumbai airport enroute to Washington via Dubai. Aamir has been selected for a US award for his television show, 'Satyamev Jayate' along with American director Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty) and the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict.

They will be honoured at the America Abroad Media in Washington today. To go back, AK had attended the Oscar ceremony when his film Lagaan had been shortlisted in the Best Foreign Film awards category in 2002. Looks like he only attends awards events on American shores. Hmmm...
